In a town filled with charming, albeit high-end places to eat, the Rocky Bay Café stands out. Conveniently situated just off the intersection of Spring Street and 2nd Avenue, the cafe is nestled between the Palace Theatre (currently showing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and a gift shop and stationery store with the charming name Sandpebble. The cafe maintains a low profile, almost hidden from view behind a small, overstuffed bulletin board, which, unlike virtually any other bulletin board I’ve encountered in similar circumstances, was completely up to date with interesting and relevant information.Inside, although unassuming and utilitarian, the cafe was almost full of people who were clearly enjoying their meals. My vegetarian omelette was excellent, and a glance at the menu and the food being enjoyed at nearby tables revealed an impressive array of culinary delights.Service was neither fast nor slow; it was appropriate, especially given how busy it was over the lunch hour. A great stop with congenial and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I stopped by Friday for brunch while I was waiting for my sister’s ferry to get in. The food was great, service was friendly and loved the atmosphere. We ended up going back everyday for brunch the rest of the weekend. Yes, we had to wait awhile but it was worth the wait! We just put our names on the list and went to enjoy the market and some shopping in the meantime. Once seated, they were busy but the food and service was still wonderful. If you like Eggs Benny as much as I do this is your place! To those who have written the few negative reviews, you obviously have never worked in customer service or a restaurant before. Be patient, be kind and get over yourself. They work hard, their food quality and smiles under pressure shows it. Will definitely visit again next time I am in town!

Ate breakfast here on our visit to Friday harbor, had the Irish Benedict and the hippie hash. Dan was great, he did the best he could even as busy as it was. Would recommend if you're taking the 6:15 ferry from Anacortes

Arrived here this morning 1/29/24 at 9:05, we were greeted, seated, ordered, ate and walked out at 9:31. Impressive, especially if you’re getting on a ferry.Aubrey (sp) very nice, everything happened as it should happen, and we left knowing we will be back. Our meals were delicious, large and filling. The chef did a nice job plating the breakfast.Nice home town feeling. See you next time!Old review from 12/11/23Walked here because we had an hour wait for our ferry. We seated ourselves, sat for some time without being acknowledged. Finally, my husband went and confirmed that we self seat.By the time the server brought us menus, we were down to 35 mins before our ferry would board. We asked if this was enough time, server said, no. So we left. Sad because we really wanted to try this place.Maybe if we had been greeted, and seated, and maybe a smile, the outcome could have been different. The server talked us out of staying and dining. I asked about taking our food to go, she couldn’t guarantee that either.I know home cooked, custom orders take time.. but I’d never let money walk out the door.12/11/23 @ 9:00.I might add, there were other tables with diners, most already had their food. Not what I would consider busy. Can’t give any stars for the food. Didn’t eat.Service intentionally left blank. Due to lack of..Atmosphere was cute…but server hurt this area too.**Based on the owners timely and polite response, we will be back. Thank you!Back again, 9/24/2024Fabulous food! Best breakfast of the summer! Great service! Thanks Danny!

We visited Rocky Bay Café on both mornings of our stay in Friday Harbor—and for good reason! Located right in the heart of town, it's a popular spot, and the crowd speaks for itself. Despite the rush, the service was warm and efficient, and the food was simply outstanding.Between the three of us, we tried the Eggs Benedict, Healthy Breakfast, Chilaquiles, and our ultimate favorite—the Pesto Bacon Omelet. Every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. But the real surprise winner for me? Their CHOCOLATE MILK. I loved it so much, I had it three times! It was rich, comforting, and honestly the best I’ve had in a long time. The place has a warm, welcoming vibe and makes you feel right at home. It was absolutely worth the wait and also very budget-friendly. I’d return to San Juan just for breakfast at Rocky Bay again—it’s that good!

You want good food or do you want food fast. Good food takes a minute and that is what Ricky Bay serves. Expect to wait for a table (get on the wait list) but you'll not be disappointed. We ate here on our first visit to Friday Harbor in June and now again on our second visit. Good Lord willing we'll be back.Breakfast sandwich and classic breakfast pictured. Delicious!

Grabbed a BLT w fries, ranch & coffee for quick brunch, while waiting for work appointment…. Was able to get the last open table; they were busy. Surprised food came fast (due to other reviews), waitress was friendly, sandwich was good w/ plenty of bacon (but not bacon heavy). Just under 14tip; a little higher than I would have expected, but semi-reasonable. Small cafe vibe. Pretty good menu variety. Sorry, forgot to take a pic, before taking a bite, LOL.

Perfect little all American diner. The food is delicious, the staff & owner are friendly, and our service was great. We went there more than once for breakfast on our trip to the San Juan's.
